Rob hosted his 3rd annual Prosthetics 101 class here. Students sculpted, molded, painted and applied a silicone prosthetic on a fellow student. In a Rob Burman class, you will learn the latest techniques and materials used in creating Hi-Def ready makeups out of encapsulated silicone and apply them.
 
Our course began with the life casting process. Then, artists followed along with Rob Burman as they both sculpted, molded, and cast their prosthetics. In the end, they appled their piece and learned a few tricks along the way. This is a 1 week intensive!

This is an “introductory” course. Students work primarily in the center of the face creating a prosthetic (nose, cheek, lip, eye, wound, etc., but staying within the “hairline” of the model). The focus is on “realism” and a “natural” look. After all, we are Makeup Artists, creating a realistic and believable look is what we do, right? 
 
This course was for everyone, even those with no experience in the art of life casting, sculpting, molding, casting parts or applying prosthetics. For the students with some previous experience, Rob helped up their game and improve on their skills.

About Rob Burman: Rob is a 3rd-generation Hollywood FX artist. Working on films such as "The Thing", "Ghostbusters", "The Fly" and numerous "Star Trek" features has made Rob Burman one of Hollywood's favorite special makeup effects artists. HOLLYWOOD FX Series brings in Hollywood's best artists for you to learn and be inspired by. We have connected with the best of the best to teach you the techniques used in Hollywood today. Classes in this Series are usually 5-day intensives with breakfast and lunch included, going from 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Classes currently focus on SFX, meaning that we will be teaching you Special Effects (SFX) to be utilized BEFORE filming. We hope to offer VFX classes in 2023, teaching Visual Effects (VFX) that happen in Post Production. If you demonstrate a good understanding of the subjects covered during this course, you will receive a Certificate upon completion verifiying you have studied under this Hollywood artist.
